Empowering Women: A Renewed Push for Community Growth in Rewa

Women in the workforce are demonstrating positive progress in all their initiatives. This was highlighted by Adi Asilika Lalawa, the leader of the women’s organization from Naqarani, Rewa.

The women’s organization has been established for a long time, but it has not been consistently active like other organizations. The members have participated in the Women Expo in previous years, where they learned many beneficial skills. This year, the organization is once again revitalizing its efforts.

There are approximately 30 women within the village; however, only a few consistently support the organization. Every Monday, they gather to work on their projects and are often supported with donations of more than 50 bricks to aid their initiatives.

Many women often face challenges due to various societal beliefs that stem from poor mindsets. Currently, they are actively striving to overcome these prejudices and are aiming for a shift toward a more positive business perspective.

ASSISTANCE FROM ADRA

The Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) recently provided initial support that was well-received by the women. This occurred during a visit to the Noco area, where they requested assistance with materials necessary for their work.

The agency revealed that it had delivered supplies a few months ago, and as of now, they have resumed receiving assistance to enable their projects to continue growing.

ADRA provides various materials including benches, chairs, tarps, beans, and other food products. They are currently working diligently to harvest the fruits of their efforts.

The main goal of these food supplies is to improve their village homes and the local shop through necessary upgrades.

A portion of the land next to their meeting house is being utilized for further development. This investment enables the organization and the community to enhance their homes and other needs.

It should be noted that not all women involved in the organization are actively participating; however, those who are engaged are making significant strides in improving their organization, especially now that they have access to support.

The members are beginning to manage greenhouses and are collaborating on various agricultural projects and food production.

With the continued involvement of ADRA, the organization is experiencing a renewed sense of purpose and is actively working towards enhancing their local shops, which have been stagnant for an extended period.

They also receive training from ADRA on how to cultivate crops effectively, including lessons on pest management and sustainability practices.

There are indeed challenges faced by many women who lack access to required resources, yet they remain committed to advancing their organization as they see the progress being made.

The organization offers guidance to its members, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning in various areas, facilitating connections with other women, and encouraging collaborative knowledge sharing for their overall growth.
