Empowering Women: A New Dawn in Economic Skills

Women, Children and Social Protection Minister Lynda Tabuya presided over an event where 60 women from nine tikinas and the Rewa Disabled Association were awarded certificates from the Pacific Women’s Economic Empowerment Program.

The Certified Training for Women Economic Empowerment workshop took place in Nakorovou Village, Dreketi, last week and focused on enhancing participants’ skills in sewing, weaving, and jewellery making.

Minister Tabuya was joined at the event by 2024 Hibiscus Festival contestant Ciara Lee, who has familial ties to Rewa. Ms. Lee shared her journey as a young entrepreneur raised by a single mother.

This workshop was part of a broader initiative titled Improving Livelihood Opportunities, aligned with the Rewa Strategic Development Plan 2024-2027, which aims to tackle social issues in the villages and lay the foundation for economic activities to combat poverty.
