The efforts of women in community work are increasingly being recognized and supported, as highlighted by the head of the Women’s Societies in Naqarani, Rewa, Adi Asilika Lalawa. Although the women’s organization has been established for a long time, it has not received consistent support like some others.
Every year, the women participate in the Women Expo, where they gain valuable knowledge and skills. This year, their organization is being revitalized after some time. Currently, around 30 women from the village are involved, though only a few groups actively cultivate community development.
The women gather every Monday to engage in their handiwork, often receiving around 50 items to aid their collective efforts. Many women face challenges due to varying beliefs that have been prevalent in the community. However, they are now working hard to eliminate such outdated views and strive for a more business-oriented perspective.
In terms of support, the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) has been an initial contributor to the community’s development, acknowledging the importance of local support. Recently, a few weeks ago, representatives visited Noco and requested assistance with operational materials and supplies.
Since their initial visit several months ago, the women have actively improved their production efforts and boosted their output, including various food items such as fresh produce and other goods.
The women are now working diligently to enhance their community’s resources. Efforts are also being made to secure land near their meeting house, which they are utilizing to improve their agricultural efforts.
While it is acknowledged that not all women are actively participating, those who are dedicated to community work are making strides. The support from organizations like ADRA is providing necessary resources for women to enhance their skills, leading to better organization and training opportunities.
Overall, the women are committed to overcoming the challenges they face, determined to advance their organization and foster skill development through networking and collaboration with other women in the community.
