The Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, visited the Veidehi Women’s Club in the Nabekavu Indian Community of Labasa to distribute essential kitchen items designed to empower local women and enhance their collective development as a community.
This initiative reflects the Coalition Government’s commitment to promoting gender equity, equality, social justice, and sustainable development, with the aim of uplifting women and children throughout Fiji.
During her visit, Hon. Kiran engaged with the women from the club, who expressed their appreciation for the assistance provided. She noted that all members of the Veidehi Women’s Club benefit from social protection scheme allowances, underscoring the government’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities.
Kiran emphasized, “When we invest in women—whether through kitchenware or broader policies—we create a positive ripple effect. Their economic contributions circulate, benefiting families, neighborhoods, and society at large. As we celebrate this equipment handover, let’s recognize that women’s empowerment isn’t just about the present; it’s an investment in a brighter, more equitable future.”
The Veidehi Women’s Club serves an important function in the community, offering a space for women to unite, share skills, and provide mutual support.
