Empowering Women: A Community United for Change

The women’s organization in Naqarani, Rewa, is making significant strides, as highlighted by its leader, Adi Asilika Lalawa. This group, which has a longstanding presence, is now gaining momentum following various initiatives.

Members of the organization have been actively participating in the Women’s Expo in recent years, where they have learned valuable skills and practices. This year, the organization has received renewed support and revitalization.

Around 30 women from the local community are part of this initiative, with only a few organizations consistently offering assistance. Every Monday, they gather to engage in their crafts, where they also provide 50 sewing machines to help with their projects.

Despite facing challenges due to different socio-economic conditions, the women are determined to overcome negative views and are focusing on expanding their business horizons.

The Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) has offered its initial support, and the organization appreciates their generosity. Recently, ADRA visited the Noco region, where they provided assistance for various work-related materials and equipment.

ADRA noted that their involvement in recent months has helped the organization stabilize its operations. They have been working hard to dream of expanding and improving their community shops.

Additionally, they have been utilizing a piece of land near their meeting place to enhance their practices further. The resources allocated to the women’s group will help them develop their health center and other needs.

Participation from ADRA has led to improvements in the organization, enhancing their operations and strategies to grow their community stores, which have been stagnant for an extended period. They also offer training opportunities for members to learn about market trends and various skills related to their ongoing projects.

Though challenges persist due to the limited involvement of many women in the organization, there is a growing realization of the importance of unity for progress. The women are encouraged to engage more actively and learn from their peers, as there is still much to gain from collaboration and shared experiences.
