Empowering Women: 60 Celebrate Economic Skills Achievement

Lynda Tabuya, the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, recently presided over an event where 60 women from nine communities and the Rewa Disabled Association were awarded certificates from the Pacific Women’s Economic Empowerment Program.

The workshop, held in Nakorovou Village, Dreketi, focused on enhancing women’s skills in sewing, weaving, and jewelry making.

She was joined at the event by Ciara Lee, a contestant in the 2024 Hibiscus Festival, who has family ties to Rewa. Ms. Lee shared her journey as a young entrepreneur raised by a single mother.

This workshop was part of the Improving Livelihood Opportunities initiative, aligned with the Rewa Strategic Development Plan for 2024-2027, which seeks to tackle social issues in the villages and lay the foundation for economic activities aimed at alleviating poverty.
