Salanieta Galo is enthusiastic about participating in the 2024 Vodafone Nasinu Festival to promote awareness about eliminating the stigma surrounding women’s health issues. At just 21 years old, this young woman from Naivucini, Naitasiri, experienced a cancer scare after discovering an ovarian cyst late last year. Sponsored by Hot Bread Kitchen, she is representing the Kinoya community and is one of seven women competing for the title.
Galo highlights that women’s health issues are frequently disregarded. She expressed, “I would love to educate women of all ages about their reproductive health.” She believes many women tend to ignore these critical topics, often due to embarrassment or fear of being stigmatized.
In addition to women’s health, Galo aims to raise awareness regarding the rising incidents of burglary, theft, and robbery in her community. She intends to create a charity account to install street solar lights with the assistance of generous donors. The festival includes a variety of performances, with The Pacific Night scheduled for this evening and the week-long event concluding this Saturday.
