Empowering the Youth: A Call for Action

The Tui Levuka, Ratu Etonia Seru, has called on the Namosi Provincial Council to instill Christian values and promote education among the province’s young people. Speaking at the council meeting held at The Pearl Hotel in Pacific Harbour on Friday, Ratu Seru emphasized that basic biblical teachings could help the younger generation navigate an unpredictable future.

“I urge members of this meeting to discuss more ways to strengthen education and Christian values in our younger generation,” Ratu Seru said. “When they are equipped with education and Christian values, we can expect a better and brighter tomorrow.”

Highlighting the rise in drug abuse incidents, Ratu Seru stressed the need for collective efforts between the Government, the church, and the vanua to tackle this issue. “It is concerning when our children are involved, and I am positive the meeting will come up with ways to alleviate the issue of drugs,” he added.

Ratu Seru also encouraged the meeting participants to explore ways to improve rural livelihoods. He emphasized the importance of engaging in discussions that align with evolving times and developmental needs that positively impact villages.

“Don’t wait for the government’s assistance to come to you. Your traditional resources are available, utilize them well,” Ratu Seru advised.

Additionally, Ratu Seru called on the province to set up financial accounts to support women and children.
