Empowering Fiji’s Youth: A Bold New Proposal Unveiled

Felix Magnus, the executive chairman of the Nasinu Town Council, is set to announce a proposal for a mandatory national service ordinance aimed at empowering youth and addressing significant social issues. This announcement will take place during Fiji Day celebrations at the Valelevu Multi-Purpose Court, with the goal of involving young people in community service, environmental initiatives, and skills development to enhance responsibility and civic engagement.

“This initiative is not only about commemorating Fiji’s history, but also about preparing for its future,” stated Mr. Magnus. He emphasized that the national service program will not take a militaristic approach but will instead focus on community participation, taking cues from successful international programs.

Furthermore, Mr. Magnus suggested establishing a national youth think tank dedicated to developing sustainable, long-term solutions for the challenges faced by young people in Fiji. “It’s essential to look forward and create a future where our youth have the opportunities and support necessary to thrive. This think tank would facilitate a coordinated strategy for addressing these concerns,” he added.
