Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old entrepreneur from Namuaimada, Ra, has successfully established her handcraft business in Bulileka, Labasa. With her business having only started last year, she has received significant support that has positively impacted her and her family.
Having studied at a local secondary school in Nasinu, Fulori participated in an entrepreneurship program that inspired her to launch her own business, despite never dreaming of doing so. She emphasizes the importance of education, stating her goal to acquire more knowledge to help grow her business.
Fulori began creating her products using materials like masi (bark cloth) and other handcrafted items that are popular in local markets. She notes that the demand for her vibrant colored products is steadily increasing in the community, proving that there is a market for her craft.
Her orders frequently come from local businesses and hotels such as Koro Sun, Namela, and Tanoa, with some items even shipped from Nausori. As the festive season approaches, she is experiencing an uptick in orders, with her products retailing at around $5 each.
On average, Fulori manages to produce 20 pieces in a day, potentially earning around $200 a week. During peak times, she can earn approximately $400 weekly, showcasing her potential for growth.
Fulori encourages fellow women in her community to harness their talents and work hard, illustrating the importance of faith and divine guidance in successfully managing their entrepreneurial journeys.
