Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old entrepreneur from Namuaimada in Ra, has successfully established her handicraft business in Bulileka, Labasa. Since starting her venture last year, she has recognized the significant impact it has had on her life and her family’s welfare.

Fulori, who was educated at a secondary school in Nasinu, participated in an entrepreneurship program that inspired her to start her own business. Initially, she had never imagined launching a venture of her own, but now she actively encourages pursuing education to achieve her business goals.

Her craftsmanship includes traditional masi (tapa cloth) and other handmade items, which she markets locally and receives orders from various resorts, including Koro Sun, Namela, and Tanoa. Despite being a small player in the market, Fulori’s persistence has led to substantial sales, as people are increasingly interested in her unique handcrafted items.

Currently, her products are priced at around $5, and she aims to enhance her business capabilities by expanding her offerings, including traditional clothing. Fulori can produce up to 20 items daily, generating an estimated monthly income of $200, with potential earnings doubling during peak periods, such as festivals.

Her dedication not only strengthens her family’s financial situation but also promotes traditional crafts and provides a shining example for others aspiring to take on entrepreneurship. Fulori encourages her peers to utilize their talents wisely for a sustainable livelihood, expressing gratitude for the divine guidance she feels throughout her journey.
