Many of us often overlook the significant opportunities that can arise from small entrepreneurial endeavors. Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old woman from Namuaimada in Ra, exemplifies how perseverance and creativity in her craft business have positively impacted her and her family.
Fulori started her craftsmanship business just last year and has already seen substantial support from her community. Drawing from her education at the Nasinu Secondary School, where she participated in entrepreneurship programs, she is now actively enhancing her skills to grow her business further.
“I have always dreamed of operating a business, and now my ambitions are being realized,” Fulori expressed. She began creating beautiful handicrafts and has developed a popular line that resonates well within her community, selling the items mainly locally.
Her products, such as colorful traditional items, have attracted numerous orders from various outlets, including hotels like Koro Sun, Namela, and Tanoa. “Since entering this joyful month, we have seen a significant increase in orders, even when production has to scale according to demand,” she noted.
The pricing of each piece starts at around $5, and Fulori hopes to expand her business to include even more diverse creations that can further elevate her craft. On a good day, she can produce around 20 items, potentially making around $200 a week, which can increase to approximately $400 during peak seasons.
Fulori’s journey highlights the impact of small businesses and how they contribute to family wellbeing and economic growth within communities. She encourages her peers to harness their own talents and pursue entrepreneurial activities, stressing the importance of faith and hard work in achieving success.
This inspiring story serves as a reminder that even small beginnings can lead to significant achievements and enhancements in one’s life. Through determination and creativity, entrepreneurs like Fulori set a powerful example, showing that every individual has the potential to thrive through hard work and community support.
