Many of us may often overlook the small businesses around us, yet we fail to recognize the significant opportunities they can provide for us to embrace and support. Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old entrepreneur from Namuaimada, Ra, exemplifies the potential of small business ventures as she successfully runs her handicraft business in Bulileka, Labasa.
Having started her business only last year, Fulori has witnessed considerable support for her enterprise, which has positively impacted her family. She initially studied at a high school in Nasinu, where she participated in a program that focused on entrepreneurship. However, she had never imagined that she would eventually start her own business.
Fulori has taken steps to further her knowledge by actively seeking out educational opportunities to enhance her skills and understanding, which will ultimately aid her business’s growth. “I have always dreamt of starting a business, and now that dream is becoming a reality,” she expressed with enthusiasm.
Demonstrating her hard work, she creates her products using traditional methods and also sources materials locally to fuel her business. The local market has shown a strong demand for her products, especially colorful handicrafts.
Her primary clientele comes from various local hotels such as Koro Sun, Namela, and Tanoa. At times, she even processes orders from Nausori, which include children and community groups.
During this festive month, she has experienced a surge in orders, leading to an increase in production demands. The prices for her items start at $5, and she hopes to expand her offerings to include additional crafting techniques such as sewing and weaving.
Fulori has the potential to produce around 20 items in a single day and estimates her weekly earnings could reach approximately $200. During peak events, she anticipates that the demand could lead to weekly earnings of $400.
Through her dedication to this small venture, Fulori is not only providing for her family but also inspiring others in her community to cultivate their talents and embark on entrepreneurial journeys. Her message encourages individuals to recognize their abilities and utilize them to achieve their goals while seeking divine guidance throughout their endeavors.
By highlighting the success of Fulori’s business, we see a hopeful narrative of empowerment and the importance of nurturing local enterprises that can sustain and uplift communities.
In summary, Fulori Waqasaqa represents a beacon of hope in her community, showcasing how small initiatives can have a meaningful impact on individuals and families alike. Her journey could inspire many to engage in entrepreneurship as a pathway to a brighter future.
