Salaseini Seruvatu, a 19-year-old from Savusavu, is using the Vodafone Nasinu Festival as a platform to advocate against cyberbullying and drug abuse. Sponsored by Ozone Electrical and representing Nadera, she aims to raise awareness about the impact of these issues on families and young people.
“My experiences with cyberbullying and witnessing drug abuse in Nadera have inspired me to take action,” stated Ms. Seruvatu, a student at the University of the South Pacific. She expressed her desire to collaborate with non-governmental organizations to develop awareness campaigns and offer counseling and legal assistance, creating safe spaces for victims.
“By building a compassionate and supportive community, we can help reduce stigma and encourage individuals to seek help without fear,” she added. Ms. Seruvatu believes that her involvement in the festival will help her grow into a more effective advocate for community issues.
She is one of seven contestants competing for the main crown at the festival, which is set to take place from August 17 to August 24.
