Empowering Change: Miss Nasinu Contestant’s Mission Against Domestic Violence

Vinaina Marawa aims to utilize the Miss Nasinu Festival as a platform to foster dialogue and empower women to escape the cycle of violence.

At 22 years old, Marawa, who hails from Kadavu, is driven by her experiences witnessing the harmful impacts of domestic violence.

“I saw my mom in an abusive relationship, and she chose to leave my dad because of it,” Ms. Marawa shared.

“My mom is a single parent to seven children, and I’m the eldest. Being the oldest, I naturally feel a sense of responsibility towards my mother and siblings, which led me to prioritize working over pursuing higher education after high school.”

Marawa emphasized that pageantry transcends mere competition among young women; it also nurtures strong bonds among contestants.

“I aspire to be a role model not just for my siblings, but for my entire community.”

Marawa is among seven contestants competing for the Miss Vodafone Nasinu Festival 2024 crown, scheduled to take place from August 24 to August 31.
