The government has launched the Hardship Assistance Scheme aimed at supporting academically successful private students who face financial difficulties through no fault of their own. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, announced this initiative during Waidina College’s golden jubilee celebration in Naitasiri last Saturday.
Professor Prasad stated that the scheme would provide assistance to students across all educational levels, from diplomas to degrees. He emphasized that the initiative focuses on creating opportunities for all students, not just those who excel academically.
“Whether their future lies in higher education or vocational training, every student is entitled to the opportunity to thrive,” he remarked.
He further explained that the new scheme signifies more than just a financial investment in education. It reflects the government’s dedication to empowering citizens by providing them with education, skills, and job opportunities.
“This aligns with our upcoming National Development Plan 2025-2029 and Vision 2050,” he added.
