Government food rations are set to begin as early as tomorrow in the Western Division to support those residing in evacuation centres. Currently, four evacuation centres are operational, housing a total of 61 households and 234 individuals. These centres include Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.
In addition to government support, these centres have received donations of cooked meals and hygiene kits from various faith-based groups, non-governmental organizations, and the Ministry of Health. The Fiji Red Cross has also provided dignity kits to residents at the Saioni Church and Korovuto Secondary School centres.
Public advisories have been issued as precautionary measures, urging individuals to stay prepared and mitigate unnecessary risks during this time. The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and the Western Divisional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) are actively monitoring the situation, while the other three Divisional EOCs are keeping an eye on weather developments in their areas.
A Flood Warning remains in effect for locations prone to flooding near the Ba, Nasivi (Tavua), Nakauvadra (Rakiraki), and Nadi Rivers. Furthermore, a Flood Alert is active across flood-prone regions adjacent to all major rivers in Fiji.
The police are ready to assist with evacuations in at-risk areas if necessary. Residents are strongly advised to evacuate if instructed, preferably during daylight for their safety.
For assistance, individuals can reach out to the following contacts:
– Commissioner Western’s Office: 8811322 or 8811005

In a time of crisis, the collective efforts of government agencies and community organizations illustrate the resilience and support available to those affected. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed and cooperate with safety protocols to navigate these challenges effectively.
