The Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) will collaborate with the University of the South Pacific (USP) to host an executive workshop led by Professor Keith Houghton, an acclaimed academic recognized for his innovative contributions to learning.
In the workshop titled “Evidence-Based Thinking,” Professor Houghton will provide participants with essential insights and practical tools. The session aims to equip attendees with methods to critically assess information, make informed decisions, and tackle complex challenges, according to FICA.
Professor Houghton holds degrees from esteemed institutions, including the University of Western Australia, the University of Melbourne, and the London School of Economics and Political Science, bringing extensive knowledge and experience to Fiji. As the chief strategist of the Higher Education and Research Group (HERG), he has successfully guided individuals and organizations in improving their decision-making processes.
The workshop targets executives and professionals in positions of significant decision-making authority. Attendees will engage with case studies and learn methods to:
– Formulate better questions to obtain relevant information
– Effectively search for and evaluate evidence
– Make dependable decisions grounded in sound evidence
– Assess the credibility of information sources
Tarlochan Singh, Chairman of FICA’s Professional Development Committee, emphasized the significance of the event for executives aiming to improve their decision-making capabilities.
