A man in his 70s was fatally injured in a car accident in Laucala Beach yesterday evening. Police reported that the elderly man suddenly stepped onto the road near Centrepoint and was hit by a car driven by a 35-year-old man. Emergency services quickly transported the victim to Colonial War Memorial Hospital, where he was tragically declared dead upon arrival. The road death toll now stands at 27, marking a decrease compared to the 47 deaths from the same period last year. Police are set to question the driver involved in the accident as part of their ongoing investigation.
