A couple from Bua are now hospitalized after receiving serious burns. The husband, believed to be in his 70s, and his wife, in her 20s, underwent a frightening experience which led to severe injuries.
Initial reports suggested that the woman had purportedly tried to commit suicide. Her husband attempted to prevent her, resulting in both of them getting burnt. The Fiji Police Force, upon being queried, confirmed the incident.
They mentioned the report was initially received by the Nabouwalu Police Station, and an investigation is currently underway to establish the chronological order of events leading up to the unfortunate incident. Given the incident’s sensitive nature, additional information will be disclosed as the investigation advances.
