Efficient Reorganization: Changes in Fiji’s Accident Compensation System

To enhance synergy and efficiency, duties of the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF) concerning workers’ compensation and school injuries will be transferred to the Ministry of Employment, Productivity, and Workplace Relations.

This announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad during the 2024-2025 National Budget presentation.

Professor Prasad stated that the ACCF will now concentrate on its primary responsibility of managing motor vehicle accidents.

A budget of $6 million has been allocated for compensation related to workplace and school injuries.

The operational transition began on 1 June 2024, with approximately 1,200 claims files being transferred to the Ministry.
