Education Ministry officials are implicated in the illegal drug trade, according to Education Ministry permanent secretary Selina Kuruleca. She mentioned that some cases are currently before the court, limiting her ability to comment further.
Ms. Kuruleca was asked about teachers’ involvement in the drug trade following a recent police raid at an official’s home. Police confirmed the raid was conducted recently.
“There are many cases,” Ms. Kuruleca stated. “We have cases involving some of our Ministry of Education officials. Until I receive a full report, I cannot provide additional comments.”
She added, “There are Ministry of Education officials involved, that’s all I can say for now. We need to follow the guidance of the Solicitor-General and the court on this matter.”
