Education Ministry Completes Bus Fare Reconciliation: What’s Next for Students?

The Ministry of Education has completed the payment for the fare differences to Vodafone Fiji Limited. This payment follows the implementation of new bus fares that took effect on September 1, 2024. The Ministry has reassured parents, guardians, and students that the payment was processed only after reconciling the number of taps recorded on both the blue and yellow bus cards.

The Ministry received verified reconciliation records during the first week of October, and after conducting additional verification in accordance with Ministry guidelines, the fare difference payment was finalized on October 15.

As of September 10, 2024, a total of 103,321 students have benefited from the Transport Assistance Program. Among them, 62,988 students utilize e-transport through the Blue subsidized cards, while 40,333 students receive RSL transport assistance.

In line with the agreement between the Education Ministry and all stakeholders, payments for fare differences will be made to Vodafone Fiji at the end of each month.
