Education Minister Pushes for USP Council Meeting Amid Staff Concerns

The Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, plans to convene a Special University of the South Pacific Council Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad and Minister for Labour, Agni Deo Singh. Radrodro aims to address various issues, particularly the welfare of Fijian staff at USP. He has referred the matter of staff terminations by USP to the Ministry of Employment.

Radrodro emphasized his commitment to resolving the concerns raised, particularly regarding staff welfare and the threats of strikes, by calling this special meeting. He assured that the Government values the contributions of the Prime Minister and all member countries of the USP Council and is dedicated to ensuring the effective operation of USP, prioritizing the welfare of teachers and students to foster a conducive learning and working environment. Additionally, he mentioned that he has kept the Prime Minister informed about the developments at USP.
