Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has urged parents and guardians of students at Queen Victoria School (QVS) to remind their children that the institution should not serve as a breeding ground for criminal behavior. This call comes in response to a parent’s concerns regarding reports of bullying and abuse of junior students by their senior counterparts.

Mr. Radrodro stressed that if any child has tendencies toward violence, they should remain at home under parental supervision. He emphasized that students seen as potential threats should not be allowed at QVS, a school historically recognized as one of the finest in the country. He expressed the need for a safe learning environment, where students can focus on their education without fear of aggression.

Additionally, he urged former students, known as “old boys,” to take an active role in mentoring current students to foster a positive school culture. He condemned any form of bullying or violence, stating that such behaviors not only diminish the school’s reputation but also raise questions regarding the effectiveness of the school system.

Mr. Radrodro expressed disappointment that the misbehavior of a few individuals could overshadow the school’s legacy. He further addressed the teaching staff, reminding them of their responsibilities to maintain discipline and vigilant oversight of students in the boarding school environment. He pointed out that persistent issues of violence indicate deeper, systemic problems within the school’s structure.

The overarching message from Mr. Radrodro is one of accountability, urging both parents and teachers to work collaboratively in nurturing a safe and respectful atmosphere for all students at Queen Victoria School.

In summary, the Education Minister has called for a collective effort from parents, old boys, and teachers to eradicate violence and maintain the esteemed reputation of Queen Victoria School. This initiative highlights the importance of community in promoting a safe educational environment for future generations.
