Education Crisis: Principal Calls for Urgent Classroom Expansion

Josefa Draunidalo, the principal of Yasayasa Moala College, has highlighted the urgent need for additional classrooms and teacher accommodations. Located in Naroi Village, Lau, Draunidalo expressed concerns over the college’s inability to accept students from the neighboring islands of Matuku and Totoya due to insufficient classroom space.

He noted that the demand for enrollment has increased significantly, prompting the school to halt further admissions. “The need for teachers’ quarters has long been overdue,” Draunidalo stated, indicating ongoing challenges in providing adequate housing for staff. The school is currently collaborating with alumni to address the situation, recognizing the importance of teacher welfare.

With the growing student population from the surrounding islands, the principal emphasized the necessity for more classrooms to facilitate optional classes. The school community is currently awaiting potential financial support to help alleviate these pressing issues.
