Eastern Fiji Faces Severe Flooding: Homes Underwater After Overnight Deluge

Heavy rainfall overnight in the Eastern Division has led to significant flooding and homes being submerged in several areas across the country. In Wailoku, numerous residences remain under water, while some residents are working to clear debris from their properties.

The Fiji Meteorological Services reported that the Eastern Division continues to face intense rainfall, contributing to flash flooding in many low-lying regions. The Nadi Weather Office indicated that the current weather pattern is caused by a trough of low pressure over Fiji, which is gradually moving eastward.

Showers linked to this weather system are expected to continue in the affected areas throughout the day. Other divisions may see partly cloudy skies with intermittent showers.
