Eastern Fiji Braced for More Flooding as Rainfall Soars

Heavy rainfall overnight in the Eastern Division has led to widespread flooding across various parts of the country, with homes submerged under water. In Wailoku, residents continue to deal with inundated properties while others work on clearing away debris.

The Fiji Meteorological Services reported that intense rainfall persists in the Eastern Division, causing flash floods in many low-lying regions. The Nadi Weather Office attributed the current conditions to a trough of low pressure positioned over Fiji, gradually moving eastward.

Showers linked to this weather system are expected to continue in impacted areas until later today. Meanwhile, other divisions might see partly cloudy conditions with occasional rain.
