Trials to form a strong East bowling team are currently underway at the Suva Bowling Club as they prepare to take on their Western rivals next weekend in Nadi. According to Phillip Lacey, president of the Suva Bowling Club, the West team will have a home advantage since they will be competing on their familiar green, which is known for being fast.
Despite recognizing the challenges posed by their opponents, Lacey highlighted the excellent condition of the bowling field as a potential equalizer. He expressed gratitude for the dedication shown by the bowlers, many of whom attended training sessions, even some who were unwell, demonstrating their commitment to the team.
Lacey also acknowledged the ongoing support from sponsors Kontiki Finance, which has been crucial in providing for the club and allowing players to focus on their performance without distractions. The upcoming competition will mark the end of the bowling season for the year.
This event not only fosters a sense of community among the bowlers but also showcases their resilience and determination as they prepare for the challenge ahead. The commitment displayed by the players—even in the face of illness—serves as a reminder of the strong camaraderie and spirit within the sport. As the team gears up for this final competition, there is hope that their hard work will pay off, leading to a memorable performance in Nadi.
