Drug Raids Across Country Lead to Seven Arrests

Seven individuals were apprehended in separate drug raids nationwide over the past 24 hours.

In Kadavu, two men were arrested at the Vunisea jetty after authorities discovered dried leaves believed to be marijuana and various smoking apparatuses.

In the Eastern Division, a 22-year-old man was detained in Koronivia with zip-lock bags containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine and cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.

In the Western Division, two men were arrested in Rakiraki for possessing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

In the Northern Division, several farms were raided in the Savusavu area, leading to the seizure of nearly 1,000 plants believed to be marijuana from three farms. One individual was arrested during these raids.

A 20-year-old farmer was taken into custody following a raid conducted in Naweni.

In Taveuni, a 42-year-old man was arrested after dried plant materials believed to be marijuana were found in his workshop and backyard.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations proceed.
