Drug Bust: Twelve Arrested in National Operation Against Illicit Trade

Twelve individuals were apprehended over the past 48 hours for suspected unlawful possession of illegal drugs.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that several plastic bags containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine were confiscated from a residence in Namara, Labasa, where three men were arrested and taken into custody. In addition, more than $1,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from illegal activities, was seized.

In Lautoka, within the Western Division, a 26-year-old man was discovered with two clear plastic bags containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, along with bullets of dried leaves presumed to be marijuana.

Four men were arrested in Rakiraki town after authorities found multiple sachets of dried leaves thought to be marijuana, along with several plastic bags containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine.

Additionally, two men were taken into custody in Lautoka after being caught with sachets of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana in separate incidents.

In Nadi, a 29-year-old man was arrested for possession of plants and seedlings believed to be marijuana.

Earlier today, a K9 unit conducted a raid in Tavakubu, Lautoka, where they seized white substances thought to be methamphetamine. A 44-year-old man was subsequently arrested and is currently in police custody.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations emphasized that divisional teams are actively pursuing suspected drug dealers. He stated, “We remain focused on disrupting and destabilizing the illicit drug trade with operations running concurrently across all five divisions. Please continue to share information, as every piece is vital in reducing supply.”
