Drug Bust: Twelve Arrested in Major Anti-Drug Operation

Twelve individuals were apprehended over the past 48 hours for suspected unlawful possession of illegal drugs.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that during a raid at a residence in Namara, Labasa, authorities seized multiple plastic bags containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine, leading to the arrest of three men who are now in custody. Additionally, more than $1,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities, was confiscated.

In Lautoka, within the Western Division, a 26-year-old man was found in possession of two clear bags containing white crystals thought to be methamphetamine, along with bullets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Meanwhile, in Rakiraki town, four men were detained after police discovered several sachets containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana, along with plastics containing white crystals presumed to be methamphetamine.

Two other men were arrested in Lautoka in separate incidents involving sachets of dried leaves thought to be marijuana.

In Nadi, a 29-year-old man was taken into custody after authorities located plants and seedlings believed to be marijuana.

This morning, a team of K9 officers carried out a raid in Tavakubu, Lautoka, where they seized substances suspected to be methamphetamine. A 44-year-old man was subsequently arrested and is in police custody.

Assistant Commissioner Driu stated that divisional operations are actively targeting suspected drug dealers. He emphasized the commitment to disrupting and destabilizing the illegal drug trade through ongoing operations across all five divisions, urging the public to share any relevant information to aid in reducing supply.
