This morning, law enforcement officials arrested two individuals for possession of illegal drugs during a coordinated operation involving the Fiji Police and the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU). The raid took place in Wailea, Vatuwaqa, around 2 a.m., where authorities discovered 10 dried branches that are suspected to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu highlighted the effectiveness of the operation, noting that the K-9 units played a crucial role in locating the drugs swiftly.
ACP Driu emphasized that the police will maintain a proactive approach towards tackling drug-related offenses, including conducting regular raids and checks at various checkpoints, particularly during late-night hours when illicit activities are more likely to occur.
Currently, the two suspects are in custody as the investigation is ongoing.
This incident reflects the commitment of the Fiji Police to combat drug-related crimes and protect the community. Such proactive measures can lead to safer neighborhoods and demonstrate the effectiveness of working collaboratively with specialized units like the FDDU. As authorities continue their efforts, there is hope that such initiatives will deter future drug offenses and contribute to overall public safety.
