Center Iosefo Masi is set to make his return for the Fijian Drua after overcoming an injury from the opening round of Super Rugby Pacific. His comeback is expected to bolster the team’s performance as they prepare to face the ACT Brumbies in Canberra this Friday.
Accompanying Masi back into the lineup is loose forward Vilive Miramira, who is one of six forwards named by coach Glen Jackson to come off the bench. Jackson has enacted a rotation within the squad, reshuffling both the back row and the midfield, opting for a 6-2 split on the bench to enhance the team’s dynamics.
In the front row, Haereiti Hetet joins forces with Mesake Doge and Zuriel Togiatama, while dynamic locking partners Mesake Vocevoce and Isoa Nasilasila anchor the tight five. Meli Derenalagi will position at blindside flanker, with young Motikiai Murray, who made a significant impact off the bench against the Chiefs, returning as the starting number seven. Elia Canakaivata will occupy the number eight slot, and co-captain Frank Lomani continues at halfback, pairing with Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula at flyhalf.
The wing positions will see Ponipate Loganimasi and Selestino Ravutaumada retained, with Tuidraki Samusamuvodre moving to inside center to make room for Masi’s return. Vuate Karawalevu will take his place as fullback.
The Drua’s matchup against the Brumbies is scheduled for 8:35 pm on Friday and will be broadcast live on FBC Sports. Masi’s return, along with the strategic adjustments made by Jackson, offers a fresh sense of hope and excitement for the team, showcasing a resilient spirit as they enter a challenging segment of the rugby season. With Masi and other players recovering and returning, fans are eager to witness the potential uphill performance of the Drua in matches ahead.
