The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways has taken an important step by signing a second Grant Agreement with Drainage Boards, highlighting their productive partnership and the beneficial outcomes that have already been realized.
During the signing, Permanent Secretary Dr. Andrew Tukana emphasized the importance of utilizing the granted funds effectively to support planned initiatives, which align with the government’s and ministry’s broader objectives.
Marau Vuli, the Director of Waterways, underscored the necessity of providing sustainable solutions and ensuring public confidence through functional drainage systems and effective flood management strategies. Vinod Kumar, Chairman of the Western Division Drainage Board, expressed gratitude for the grant and noted that with the festive season approaching, their focus will be on maintaining and repairing flood gates and flap gates in the Western region.
