Dr. Singh: Coach Prepares for a Historic Playoff Dual Role!

Tavua’s coach, Dr. Diva Singh, is set to take on a dual role during the crucial Digicel Senior League final playoff against Bua this Saturday. Dr. Singh, who is recognized as a dependable midfielder, may fill in for Captain Malakai Tiwa, who received a red card in the first leg of the final at Subrail Park in Labasa, which ended with Bua winning 1-0.

Although Dr. Singh has not participated in any matches since assuming the coaching position, he is prepared to rise to the occasion. In an interview, he emphasized the importance of hard work, stating that despite having the advantage of playing at home, the team must strive to secure a victory by a margin of two goals.

He remarked, “We need to focus on our way of playing and place a lot of emphasis on mental preparation. Home ground will always be an advantage, but the boys need to do their part.” Dr. Singh also noted the significance of Captain Tiwa’s absence, asserting that whoever takes his place will have big shoes to fill. Several supporters have urged him to step onto the field, and while he has been training with the team all season, he has yet to play.

“I may take the field for Tavua for the last time on Saturday if need be. This is an important game for us as it will determine our status for next season. We are eager to reclaim our place in the Premier Division and recognize the challenge ahead,” he stated.

The stakes are high for both teams; Bua only needs a draw to secure the title and a place in the Premier Division, while Tavua must win by at least two goals. If Tavua manages a 1-0 victory, the match will proceed to extra time, and the outcome could ultimately be decided by penalty shootouts if no additional goals are scored.
