A tribunal hearing for the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Christopher Pryde is currently in uncertainty, as the sessions that were set to take place from August 19 to 31 have been canceled.
Mr. Pryde expressed his disappointment upon learning that the hearing dates have been vacated. He voiced concerns about not receiving necessary disclosures that would help him comprehend the charges against him related to superannuation.
He stated, “I am dismayed that I have still not received the required disclosures, and the tribunal has yet to set a hearing date. My salary continues to be suspended five weeks after the Prime Minister said it should continue to be paid. This matter is soon to enter its 17th month with no resolution, and the JSC refuses to discuss the issue of the unilateral suspension of my salary.”
Mr. Pryde was suspended from his role as DPP in April 2023 due to allegations of misbehavior after being seen in conversation with former attorney-general Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum at an official event. A year later, the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) introduced an additional allegation regarding overpaid superannuation, which Mr. Pryde has denied.
Inquiries sent to the JSC in the afternoon yesterday have yet to receive a response.
