The Fiji Police Force is advising vehicle owners to avoid leaving their cars unattended with the keys in the ignition. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu issued this warning after two incidents were reported where vehicles were stolen because the keys were left in the ignition.
ACP Driu emphasized that opportunistic thieves take advantage of such situations, urging vehicle owners to exercise caution and secure their vehicles at all times. He noted that these criminals show no concern for anyone, including the families of victims who may be present in the vehicle.
Once a theft report is made, police will set up checkpoints to prevent the stolen vehicle from being used in further criminal activities.
