Dominion Brothers clinched the men’s cup trophy at the under 20 sevens rugby tournament, defeating the PSM Aflame Bros team by a narrow margin of 14-12 at Thomson Park in Navua yesterday. The match was fiercely competitive, showcasing the determination and skill of both teams as they fought for victory under the setting sun.
This championship marked the conclusion of an intense one-day tournament that featured impressive performances from all participants across five rounds. Manasa Mata, the manager of the Dominion side, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and effort displayed by the players throughout the tournament. He emphasized that the team was formed with the goal of helping players provide for their families through their rugby skills.
Mata also noted the players, born between 2004 and 2006, benefited from the cooperation between the Fiji Sports Council and the Fiji Rugby Union in facilitating the competition. Following their victory, the team received $3,500 in prize money, reinforcing the positive impact of their hard work.
As the tournament continues into its second leg next week at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, there is an air of anticipation for further thrilling matches and the emergence of new talent.
