DIGICEl Fiji celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights, by bringing joy and happiness to students and teachers at the Fiji School of the Blind. The company organized a festive gathering at the school in Vatuwaqa, Suva, infusing the occasion with Diwali spirit for the visually impaired children.
Last week, the Digicel Fiji team treated the students and staff to a delightful array of traditional Indian dishes and sweets. The event was vibrant and festive, marked by the distribution of gifts that created lasting memories for everyone involved, according to a company statement.
“Diwali, a symbol of light, hope, and new beginnings, is cherished in Fiji. Digicel Fiji’s effort to bring the joy of Diwali to the children of the Fiji School of the Blind demonstrates our commitment to inclusivity and community support,” the statement said.
Shally Jannif, Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Pacific Regional HUB Markets, remarked, “Diwali is a time for giving back, and we are privileged to positively impact the lives of these remarkable students during our celebrations.”
Farid Mohammed, CEO of Digicel Fiji, added, “We are committed to nurturing a more compassionate and inclusive society, and this event highlights our ongoing initiatives. The Fiji School of the Blind represents hope, and we take pride in supporting their mission.”
The event offered a much-needed break from the daily routines for both staff and students at the Fiji School of the Blind, allowing them to partake in the joy and connection that Diwali symbolizes.
