“Divided We Fall: Fiji’s Political Tensions Rise”

The Minister of Agriculture and Waterways, Vatimi Rayalu, has issued a firm message to those contemplating leaving the People’s Alliance Party or forming a new political group, stating, “We don’t need you, neither does Fiji.” His remarks follow Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s disclosure of divisions within the party, which reportedly include members of the Cabinet who are considering a split ahead of the 2026 elections.

Rayalu expressed his strong support for Prime Minister Rabuka and emphasized the importance of unity within the party. He stated, “There is no room for division, disloyalty, or personal agendas.” He urged anyone thinking of leaving to do so immediately, reinforcing that their presence is unnecessary.

He highlighted that the current political landscape was shaped by the sacrifices of Fijians who voted for change during the 2022 General Election. “We are that change,” Rayalu asserted, confirming their commitment to fulfilling their promises to the electorate.

Rayalu pledged to remain dedicated in serving the people of Fiji and vowed not to let rumors or personal ambitions undermine their efforts. He stated, “If you don’t respect the voters who put their trust in us, don’t expect us to respect you.” He concluded by reaffirming the party’s focus on building a better future for all Fijians and stated that they would continue to progress without the dissenters, asserting, “We’re stronger than ever.”
