Discipline Pays Off: Meet the Baton of Honour Champion from Fiji

Mosese Tuimatai, the Baton of Honour recipient from Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, emphasized the importance of discipline for long-term benefits. The 18-year-old, hailing from Maumi Village in Bau, Tailevu, shared that he has lived by a lesson imparted by his father since childhood. He expressed his surprise upon receiving the award and noted that he is the first in his family to complete Year 13.

“It is crucial for us as children to heed our parents’ advice,” he stated. “The cadet training program has taught us self-discipline, providing a valuable way for students to develop this skill, which offers lasting benefits. I am thankful to the teachers for allowing the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces to train us, as they have instilled a sense of discipline that supports students.”

Mosese aims to pursue a career as a marine engineer. “I am thankful to God for enabling me to reach this level. My family has been my greatest support, and I appreciate each one of them,” he added. “Receiving the Baton of Honour was unexpected, making this moment one of happiness and gratitude for me.”
