Discipline and Determination: Meet Fiji’s Baton of Honour Winner

Mosese Tuimatai, the Baton of Honour recipient from Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, emphasized the importance of living with discipline for long-term benefits. The 18-year-old, hailing from Maumi Village in Bau, Tailevu, shared that this principle was instilled in him by his father from a young age.

He expressed his surprise upon being called to receive the award, noting that he is the first in his family to reach Year 13. “It is important for us as children to listen to our parents,” he remarked.

Mosese highlighted the significance of the cadet training program in teaching self-discipline, stating, “It is one way for students to learn discipline, which often benefits us in the long run. I thank the teachers for allowing the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces to train us. They instilled discipline that helps students.”

With aspirations of becoming a marine engineer, Mosese expressed gratitude for his accomplishments. “I thank God for making it possible for me to reach this point. My family has been my biggest supporter, and I am grateful to each one of them,” he said.

He added, “I did not expect to be the recipient of the Baton of Honour, so receiving it makes me both happy and grateful.”
