Digicel Fiji has officially introduced its Digicel Pacific Starlink Enterprise Internet service to enterprise customers, thanks to a reseller agreement with Starlink facilitated by its parent company, Telstra. This new offering will be part of Digicel Fiji’s enterprise product lineup, enhancing the range of solutions available to businesses.
Shally Jannif, the CEO for Digicel’s regional Pacific HUB Markets, highlighted the partnership with Starlink as a reflection of Digicel Pacific’s commitment to innovation and the delivery of advanced solutions for customers. He expressed excitement over introducing Starlink’s enterprise services in Fiji, which will enhance connectivity options for clients.
Starlink operates a network of broadband Internet satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), making it the first company to do so. According to Digicel, LEO satellites are closer to Earth, which results in lower latency and better data speeds compared to traditional geostationary satellites.
This technology provides an advantage for customers who need low-latency connections for online meetings, presentations, and video calls. Farid Mohammed, CEO of Digicel Fiji, commented on the advancements in satellite technology, noting that the introduction of LEO satellites marks an exciting new chapter.
The Starlink Enterprise Internet plans are designed specifically for business needs, offering a range of options. Mr. Mohammed indicated that the team has been testing Starlink’s service to identify the best methods for delivering it to enterprise clients. The tests have shown it to be an excellent choice for companies needing reliable internet access in areas beyond traditional service coverage.
While fiber connectivity meets the needs of many enterprises, the inclusion of Starlink services allows Digicel Fiji to provide high-speed internet to some of the most remote locations in the country where traditional technologies fall short.
