Digicel Fiji has introduced its Digicel Pacific Starlink Enterprise Internet service, aimed at its enterprise clients, through a reseller agreement with Telstra, the parent company of Digicel. This new offering is part of Digicel Fiji’s enterprise product range, which includes various solutions for businesses.
Shally Jannif, CEO of Digicel’s regional Pacific HUB Markets, emphasized that collaborating with Starlink demonstrates Digicel Pacific’s commitment to fostering innovation and delivering advanced solutions. Jannif expressed enthusiasm about bringing Starlink’s enterprise services to Fiji, enhancing the company’s connectivity offerings.
Starlink operates a network of broadband Internet satellites in low Earth orbit, leading the industry in this technology. The low altitude of these satellites results in lower latency and improved data throughput compared to traditional geostationary satellite solutions. This advancement provides businesses with enhanced connectivity for activities such as online meetings and video conferences.
Farid Mohammed, CEO of Digicel Fiji, noted that the advent of low Earth orbit satellites signals a new era in satellite technology. The Starlink Enterprise Internet plans are specifically designed for enterprise customers, with options tailored to various requirements.
Mohammed mentioned that the Digicel team has been testing Starlink’s services in practical scenarios to ascertain the best way to present it to enterprise clients. The initial findings suggest it is an excellent solution for businesses that need dependable internet access in areas lacking traditional coverage.
While most enterprises are well served by fiber-based connectivity, Mohammed indicated that adding Starlink to Digicel Fiji’s offerings allows for high-speed Internet in the country’s most remote regions, where conventional technologies may be insufficient.
