Digicel Fiji is celebrating its 16th anniversary in the nation with a series of events, including the launch of an Epic Sweet 16 birthday giveaway and community grants amounting to $48,000.
Since its launch in 2008, Digicel has transformed Fiji’s telecommunications landscape by breaking the previous monopoly, reducing call rates, and improving mobile access for the people of Fiji.
Farid Mohammed, the CEO of Digicel Fiji, acknowledged the company’s impact on communication costs and its role as a competitor to established providers. He noted that over the past 16 years, the company has invested nearly $0.5 billion to enhance network infrastructure, ensuring that over 90 percent of the population, including those in remote areas such as Natewa, Rabi, and the Lau Group, has access to reliable connectivity.
To celebrate this significant milestone, Digicel Fiji is providing three community grants of $16,000 each, demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility and support for local initiatives. Organizations interested in applying can do so through the Digicel website.
In addition to the community grants, the Epic Sweet 16 celebration will include more than $160,000 in cash giveaways, instant cash-back options, and various prizes for customers.
With the MyCash service, users can receive an instant five percent cash-back on transactions at selected retailers, along with discounts on mobile phones and other services.
Mr. Mohammed highlighted the company’s dedication to empowering Fijians through the birthday giveaway, stating that a wide range of prizes and community grants are available for everyone to enjoy.
Customers can take part in the Epic Sweet 16 celebrations by downloading the MyCash app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and visiting the Digicel Fiji Facebook page for further information.
