Digicel Fiji is celebrating its 16th anniversary in the country with an array of festivities, including the introduction of an Epic Sweet 16 birthday giveaway and community grants amounting to $48,000.
Since its establishment in 2008, Digicel has transformed the telecommunications landscape in Fiji by breaking the existing monopoly, decreasing call rates, and improving mobile access for the residents.
Farid Mohammed, the chief executive officer of Digicel Fiji, acknowledged the loyalty of customers and highlighted the company’s efforts in making communication more affordable by challenging established providers.
“Over the past 16 years, we have invested nearly $0.5 billion to enhance our network infrastructure, ensuring that over 90 percent of the population has access to reliable connectivity, including in remote locations like Natewa, Rabi, and the Lau Group,” Mr. Mohammed stated.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Digicel Fiji announced the availability of three community grants, each worth $16,000, underscoring its commitment to social responsibility and support for community initiatives.
Organizations interested in applying for the grants can do so through the Digicel website. Additionally, the Epic Sweet 16 event features more than $160,000 in cash giveaways, instant cash-back offers, and various prizes for customers.
Through its MyCash service, users can earn an immediate five percent cash-back on transactions at selected retailers, along with discounts on mobile phones and services.
Mr. Mohammed stressed the company’s dedication to empowering Fijians, mentioning the diverse range of prizes and community grants available in celebration of Digicel’s anniversary, stating, “There’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
