Digicel Fiji is celebrating its 16th anniversary in the nation with events that include the launch of an Epic Sweet 16 birthday giveaway and community grants totaling $48,000.
Since its founding in 2008, Digicel has transformed the telecommunications landscape in Fiji by dismantling the previous monopoly, reducing call rates, and increasing mobile access for the Fijian people.
Farid Mohammed, Digicel Fiji’s chief executive officer, acknowledged the company’s customers and its significant role in decreasing communication costs in Fiji by competing with established providers.
“Over the past 16 years, the company has invested nearly $0.5 billion to enhance network infrastructure, ensuring that over 90 percent of the population has access to reliable connectivity, including in remote areas like Natewa, Rabi, and the Lau Group,” Mr. Mohammed stated.
To celebrate this milestone, Digicel Fiji announced it will provide three community grants of $16,000 each, underscoring its commitment to social responsibility and local support.
Interested organizations are invited to apply through the Digicel website. In addition to the community grants, the Epic Sweet 16 celebration includes over $160,000 in cash giveaways, instant cash-back opportunities, and various prizes for customers.
Through the MyCash service, users can receive an instant five percent cash-back on transactions at selected retailers, as well as discounts on mobile phone purchases and services.
Mr. Mohammed highlighted the company’s dedication to empowering Fijians with the birthday giveaway.
“This promotion features a wide range of prizes and community grants; there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” he noted.
To take part in the Epic Sweet 16 celebrations, customers can download the MyCash app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and visit the Digicel Fiji Facebook page for more information.
