Digicel Fiji is celebrating its 16th anniversary with various events, including the launch of an Epic Sweet 16 birthday giveaway and community grants worth $48,000.
Since its establishment in 2008, Digicel has transformed Fiji’s telecommunications industry by eliminating the existing monopoly, reducing call rates, and improving mobile access for Fijians.
Farid Mohammed, the CEO of Digicel Fiji, acknowledged the support from customers and highlighted the company’s impact on decreasing communication costs in Fiji by competing with established providers.
“Over the past 16 years, the company has invested nearly $0.5 billion to enhance network infrastructure, ensuring that over 90 percent of the population has reliable connectivity, even in remote regions like Natewa, Rabi, and the Lau Group,” he noted.
To mark this significant occasion, Digicel Fiji announced three community grants of $16,000 each, emphasizing its commitment to social responsibility and local initiatives. Interested organizations can apply through the Digicel website.
The Epic Sweet 16 celebration also includes over $160,000 in cash giveaways, instant cash-back offers, and various prizes for customers. Through the MyCash service, users can enjoy an instant five percent cash-back on transactions at selected retailers, along with discounts on mobile phone purchases and services.
Mr. Mohammed stressed the company’s commitment to empowering Fijians through the birthday giveaway, stating, “This promotion includes a wide range of prizes and community grants; there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
