Diddy Fights for Clarity in Ongoing Legal Battle

Diddy has expressed frustration with federal prosecutors for allegedly hindering his defense by not disclosing the identities of individuals making accusations against him in a criminal case. His legal team filed documents on Tuesday requesting that a federal judge compel the U.S. Attorney’s Office to reveal the names of the anonymous victims mentioned in the indictment. This would enable Diddy to specifically respond to the charges of “abusing, threatening, and coercing” women and others for his sexual gratification.

In the court documents, Diddy claims that once the names are disclosed, there will be substantial evidence supporting his position that his interactions with these alleged victims were consensual. He is seeking clarification on who is making allegations of non-consensual acts against him.

The current indictment consists of 14 pages and refers to one individual as “Victim 1,” who is thought to be Cassie, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, based on the claims presented. Diddy’s attorneys have indicated that “Victim 1” is indeed his former partner. However, Diddy’s request focuses not on her name but on the identification of any additional accusers being utilized by the federal government to strengthen their case.

Additionally, the founder of Bad Boy Records aims to have these names disclosed in light of civil lawsuits being filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has reportedly taken on 120 clients related to this matter. Diddy’s team alleges that the federal case has caused a widespread impact, leading to numerous claims from unidentified individuals, with six of Buzbee’s clients filing suits on a recent Monday.

Due to the “number and anonymity of accusers,” Diddy’s attorneys have repeatedly asked federal prosecutors to identify the alleged victims; however, their requests have so far been declined. Diddy was arrested last month during a raid at a midtown Manhattan hotel where he was staying. Since his arrest, he has been detained in Brooklyn, and attempts to secure bail have been denied twice. His trial is scheduled to begin in May 2025, with Diddy remaining incarcerated until then. The Southern District of New York has opted not to make any comments regarding the case.
